Kari Voutilainen Will Current the Voutilainen 28ti (Titanium Inverse) at WatchTime New York 2019

If you look too quickly at the latest release from Kari Voutilainen, you might be tricked into thinking its an entirely new timepiece for the Finnish watchmaking maestro. Given the name 28ti, the watch features a brand new execution for Voutilainen, yet it should feel quite familiar for the Kari faithful. If you haven’t guessed yet, that is because much of the watch’s movement — which is visible from the dial side, a first for Voutilainen — is taken from the Vingt-8 construction that is easily distinguishable due to the extra-large balance wheel found in the 28ti’s top-left corner.

The Vingt-8 is likely the most well known Voutilainen timepiece and has been a part of the watchmaker’s catalog since 2011. When it was introduced eight years ..

Top 5 Sunglasses for Summer 2019, with Watches to Match!

By Rob NuddsAs the sun begins to brighten the summer days, the time is ripe to update your shades. And while you’re at it, what better time to upgrade your wristwatch. You don’t think that matching your sunglasses to your daily watch matters? Well, maybe you don’t care if your shoes match your belt, or if your belt buckle matches the metal on your wrist, or the frames of your specs. Maybe you don’t mind mixing a brown leather jacket with a black leather belt. That’s cool too. Mixing it up can be a way to send a different message, after all. But for those of us who make the decision of what we wear consciously, and are doing so because we believe it matters, making sure the style and materials of your designer sunglasses are sitting pretty alongside those of your watch is pretty basic concern.
But here’s the thing with the basics: Take care of them, and the complicated stuff takes care of itself. So spending a little bit of time getting your staple accessories right will pay dividends d..

Grail Pieces – Alex

All of us interested in watches have the pieces that we really want. So, allow me to share with you my grail pieces that I would love to eventually add to my collection.

1.Cartier Tank

This watch is iconic. No two ways about it. This watch is instantly recognisable by everyone, a watch worn by icons from Warhol to Ali. Personally, I love the timeless design of the Tank, it really does speak to me. The subtle blued hands and matched cabochon, it just screams elegance to me.

2. Patek Philippe 3940

Patek Philippe is one of the coveted holy trinity and this perpetual calender to me is absolutely stunning. Personally, I love the champagne dial which is beautifully balanced and the Dauphene hands. This certainly would be the heavy hitter of the dream collection.

3. A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual Calender

Sigh, yes alas another perpetual calender. Although, this one is of the German variety and excudes excellence and that German engineering that they’re widely renowned for.

Enicar Seapeal Ultrasonic – Affordable Vintage with heritage.

Enicar Seapeal Ultrastonic

Seasoned watch collectors need no introduction to the likes of the Rolex Explorers, Submariners or Omega Speedmasters and Monacos. All these watches have decorated and venerated pasts… demonstrated in their prices being anywhere from £4000- to the tens of thousands of pounds.

However, a rich history is not only reserved to the the big brands; smaller brands too, even those lost to time, can have a rich history. A prime example of this is one of the lesser known Swiss brands – Enicar.

May 23rd/24th 1956. Albert Eggler led a Swiss expedition to climb Mt. Everest, on all their wrists was a version of this Enicar Seapearl. The climb was a success and Enicar leaped at this, eventually branding subsequent ones “Sherpa”.

The Eggler expedition is definitely a feather in the cap of this Enicar, but allow us to add another. The Seapearl in 1958 was considered by the US Nacy’s experimental diving unit, here it was pitted against the Rolex Submariner Ref. 6538 and ..
