Breitling Launches Navitimer Automatic 35 For Women Breitling reimagines its iconic style of Navitimer to create a new women’s collection by Karina Kwiatkowska April 17, 2020 MIN READBreitling Launches Navitimer Automatic 35 For Women
Breitling’s newest elegant but sporty timepieces are moving the women’s watchmaking towards a new kind of youth-influenced, minimalistic aesthetic. The latest Navitimer 35mm collection perfectly captures classic codes which are true to Breitling’s DNA, while taking a modern approach to the brand’s signature model.
The Breitling Navitimer Automatic 35 comes with four different dials: mother-of-pearl, blue, copper, and silver. The case — available in stainless steel, 18-karat red gold, and also a mixture of the two — measures 35 mm in diameter and just 9.92 mm thick. The case itself is sporty and modern, while the size makes the whole design more feminine and elegant.
Flowing from the case middle are nicely faceted lugs. The design of the lugs means the watch sits perfectly on either a leather strap or the more professional pilot’s bracelet. The importance of that kind of versatility cannot be overstated. Another aspect that enables this watch to be worn as both a professional timepiece as well as a more jewelry-esque accessory is the bezel. I love the design. Furthermore, the beaded edge is a vintage throwback that adds sparkle without the use of diamonds. Better still, it comes in two material options. Customers can choose between stainless steel and 18k red gold.
Navitimer gets a modern and feminine edge
The dial variations and their features are stunning. The mother-of-pearl dial is brought to life by the subtle diamond hour markers. Placing these luxurious materials next to highly functional luminous hands makes for a nice contrast. The red-tipped seconds hand is not lumed but increases the useability of the black scale printed around the outside of the dial.
The result is a trio of free-spirited choices.
Sun-burst dials in blue, copper, and silver bring a bold flash of color to the range. The result is a trio of free-spirited choices. Also, the hands and indexes in silver/red gold tone add a touch of glamor to proceedings.
The Navitimer is available on the characteristic pilot bracelet in three variations. Stainless steel, 18-karat red gold, and bicolor options exist. Alternatively, the watch can be worn on alligator straps with either a pin or folding buckle. I’m in love with watch bracelets and this timepiece with Breitling’s pilot bracelet is the variation I’d opt for. However, I could definitely imagine purchasing a leather strap as well so I had that added flexibility.
Betting on a versatile sports watch might be a smart move.
The trend for this summer seems to be colorful cut-out dresses, trench coats, and strappy sandals. Before lockdown lifts it might be a good idea to pick-up a new watch for the next season we (might) be able to spend outside. Betting on a versatile sports watch might be a smart move. Breitling with its new Navitimer gives women want their want — functionality and “goes-with-everything” design.
The Navitimer is not just another pretty timepiece. It also has a good-quality mechanical heart. Inside this watch is Caliber 17 which is 4.6 millimeters thick and 25.6 millimeters wide. The power reserve of this the self-winding movement is 38 hours and it ticks at 28,800vph. It features hours, minutes, and seconds. Additionally, all Navitimers are COSC-certified chronometers.
Modernizing the world’s impression of women’s watch
This new Breitling line designed for women became an exploration of the brand’s legacy. Winning women’s’ hearts certainly seems to be an obsession shared by many a Swiss watch brand. We’ve seen a variety of attempts along the way where the key players came up with various successful and unsuccessful propositions. Perhaps surprisingly, Breitling’s appealing reinterpretation of its signature model might just be the best yet. Learn more by visiting Breitling’s official site.
