Fratello × Frederique Constant Manufacture Moonphase Joins Watch & Act Auction Our friends from Time+Tide Watches Are Raising Money To Support The Fight Against Bush Fires. Let's help! by Rob NuddsJanuary 20, 2020 MIN READFratello × Frederique Constant Manufacture Moonphase Joins Watch & Act Auction
As devastating bush fires continue to rage in Australia, local online magazine Time+Tide Watches is mobilizing a group of concerned companies from around the industry for a very good cause.
You love koalas, right? Sure you do. Everybody does. Well, the koalas and their fellow Australians are facing one of the worst bush fire crises in memory, and they need your help. Time+Tide Watches is launching the “Watch & Act!” World Watch Auction in support of the brave humans fighting the relentless fires that are sweeping the country.

Unique Pieces
The name “Watch & Act!” is an official bush fire threat level that has no doubt worn out its welcome over the past months. Eleven days after putting the word out for assistance in taking positive action to fight the fires, Time+Tide founder Andrew McUtchen, had received 16 responses from brands willing to participate. Remarkably, some of those brands (notably Hublot and Zenith) have gone to the trouble of providing unique pieces for the auction. The Zenith Pilot Type 20 submitted for sale features a special case back. Through the sapphire display window on the obverse of the Hublot, a handsome rotor honoring the firefighters in action spins.
As good friends of the Time+Tide team, Fratello decided to offer one of our recently-released Frederique Constant Manufacture Moonphase watches to be auctioned. One of our 29 pieces will go under the hammer along with the other lots from 9 AM AEST today, until 9 AM AEST January 30th. The auction will be held on the Invaluable platform and can be accessed here. Other major auction houses like Sotheby’s and Phillips use this platform too.
A rare opportunity
And there are some real gems in the auction catalog Andrew and his team have managed to assemble. The H. Moser & Cie. Pioneer listed for sale is actually the personal watch of U2 bass player, Adam Clayton. Other special editions, along with the Fratello × Frederique Constant Manufacture Moonphase, include the Oris Divers Sixty-Five Limited Edition for Hodinkee, and the Doxa SUB 200 130 Years Limited Edition. Neither watch is available anymore, so the auction offers a rare opportunity to pick one up.
In doing so, you will be contributing to a very worthy cause. The danger posed by bush fires of this magnitude is very real and terrifyingly imminent. Human lives are at stake. Homes are liable to be destroyed. And huge swathes of the animal population are also unable to save themselves. Already the koala population has been cut to perilously low numbers. If the fires continue, many species could die out.
Andrew says, “There is a lot of love for Australia right now, and anyone bidding on these watches is not only showing it but sharing in it too.” To learn more about the watch we’re donating to the cause, you can read up on it in our dedicated shop. If you’d like to see it live on Invaluable (and to place a bid), you can do so here.
