Oris Releases New Gradient Blue Aquis Date And A New Case Size The new Aquis models are the same but different from the Hölstein-based brand by Balazs FerencziMarch 05, 2020 MIN READOris Releases New Gradient Blue Aquis Date And A New Case Size
The latest news coming out of Hölstein will surely please the fans of the Oris Aquis Date timepieces.
The brand is releasing two new models, both Aquis divers and both with a date. That’s pretty much where the similarity ends, though. One of the cornerstones of Oris’s strategy is to create affordable and high-quality tool watches. Whether we are talking about timepieces for pilots or divers, this DNA crops up in all of them. The brand’s watches are built to last and have a very distinct “Oris” look. The Aquis collection is arguably the best-known Oris line among divers. The Oris Divers collection appeals to those with an active lifestyle. Both of the collection’s new additions are more than capable of standing up to rough treatment in the wild, with solid, life-proof cases and a sufficient water resistance rating.
Oris Aquis has so much to offer – Oris Aquis GMT Date models with the same blue dial but more massive 43.5mm case
Oris Aquis Date 41.5mm
You have to love it when a brand listens to its customers. In the age of the internet, it is effortless to share your opinion with the world about whatever topic. It can be beneficial but often uncalled for and less than constructive. The watch industry and its community are no exception to this. Consumers are quick to share their opinions about certain models and “ask” brands to rethink their strategies, release new models, or perhaps fan favorites in new sizes. It is rarer for the brands to take note.
Well, it seems like something not too far from that kind of “call and response” relationship might have occurred here. The new Oris Aquis Date 41.5mm comes in a new case size. According to the brand itself, this watch came to life as a response to Oris customer feedback. Most Aquis models are either 43.5mm (sometimes even bigger at 45.5mm) or 39.5mm. With the 41.5mm case size, the brand is aiming for the sweet spot of many watch lovers.

So here we have a modern tool watch with an “ideal” 41-42mm size. Other than the new case size, the new Oris Aquis Date 41.5mm looks exactly like its smaller siblings. You can find the same deep blue dial as you have seen on other Oris models already. The indexes and the hands have SuperLumiNova BH W9 coating for high legibility. The case is steel, topped with a ceramic bezel, which encircles a domed sapphire crystal that has an anti-reflective coating on the underside. The case back is also steel with a display window. The Aquis Date 41.5mm is water-resistant to 300m and has a 22mm lug width. Inside, you can find the Oris 733 (Sellita SW 00-1 base) movement with 38 hours of power reserve, 26 jewels, and 28,800vph. You can get it in a rubber strap or on a steel bracelet. The price is €1,950 on steel and €1,750 on the rubber strap.
Oris Aquis Date Gradient Blue
This Oris Aquis Date has the 39.5mm case. There are 13 models currently in the line with the same, smaller case size. So, this is no news to the fans of the brand. Why this piece is so special has to do something with the color of its dial. Oris calls it, “oceanic blue gradient.” If you’re looking to put it in the context of colors that exist beyond the minds of Oris’s design department, I’d be pretty comfortable defining this as turquoise. There is no doubt in my mind that this watch will become a favorite soon. The size is just perfect in my opinion. Furthermore, this dial tone is something out of the ordinary. It is different from the previous Oris Aquis Date models’ dial color, trendy enough to make it a great summer watch.

The case is 39.5mm steel with a unidirectional rotating bezel that has a Tungsten insert. As you’d have with the other Aquis Date models, the steel case back has a sapphire crystal display window. The case is 12.6mm thick and weighs around 145g on the bracelet. The domed crystal is also sapphire and has an anti-reflective coating on the inside with great visibility in most conditions. Just like every other piece, this Oris Aquis Date is also water-resistant to 300m. The heart and soul ticking inside is the same as above — the Oris caliber 733. The price on the Oris Aquis Date with the blue gradient dial is €1,950. The rubber strap is no option for this model — yet. If you’d like to visit the Oris website, please click here.
