Hands-On: Bulova Grammy Awards 98A241 Automatic Watch

As a sponsor and the official watchmaker of the Grammy awards, Bulova also happens to have some watches dedicated to the important music awards institution. At first, Bulova was modifying some of its existing products with Grammy award labeling (hands-on with the Bulova Precisionist Special Grammy Edition watch here), but more recently, the importance of the relationship with The Grammys prompted Bulova to create an entirely unique wristwatch product for the event. Today, I go hands-on with the reference 98A241 Bulova Grammy watch.
Grammy watches are important not just for their commercial value but also because Bulova supplies many of them to the Grammy Awards in order to hand out to winners. Watches are some of the most popular items given as rewards to accomplished people, so it makes sense that Bulova wants Grammy Award winners to wear a Grammy watch.

Bulova Debuts Precisionist X Sport Watch Series

When Bulova announced its Precisionist X line in 2020 as a 10th-anniversary celebration for the Precisionist series, it ushered in a new high watermark for the performance of its high-end quartz chronographs. With a 1/1000 second analog chronograph and an aggressive angular integrated design, the Precisionist X offered a bold look forward for the future of the brand, and for 2021 Bulova returns to the Precisionist X line with a more refined second attempt. By increasing the water resistance to a robust 300 meters and introducing a slightly cleaner case design, the new Bulova Precisionist X Sport offers a more polished experience than its predecessor with impressive capability in any conditions.
The general form of the Bulova Precisionist X Sport’s angular 45mm x 47mm stainless steel case is shared with the original Precisionist X, but the bezel architecture has been simplified. The Precisionist X Sport eliminates the complex bracket motif from the Precisionist X’s bezel, leaving a mor..

Bulova ‘Joseph Bulova’ Breton Automatic Limited-Edition Watch Review

Getting a square or rectangular watch done right is a real challenge, which is why elegant angular watches are relatively rare. Bulova’s Swiss Made collection of timepiece is now known as the “Joseph Bulova collection” (named of course after the brand’s eponymous founder). A few years ago the higher-end “Swiss Made” product at Bulova came under the “Accu-Swiss” collection, a name that has recently been deprecated. The reason for this change of name (and the watches are quite different, too) is that Bulova wishes to avoid name confusion with its owned mark, “Accutron.” Bulova is about to re-launch Accutron with a new collection, so making sure consumers are not confused is critical at this time.
Joseph Bulova collection watches right now include a small assortment of low- (or limited) production timepieces with Swiss Made ETA mechanical movements and rather classic styles. I will, however, say that the classic styles are curated and transformed for today’s tastes. Rather than merely ap..

BREAKING NEWS: Citizen And Bulova Announce Withdrawal From Baselworld 2020 Over Coronavirus

The troubling trend of withdrawals from the 2020 Baselworld trade show continued this morning, with Japanese industry giant Citizen announcing that both Citizen and its stablemate brand Bulova will not be attending the show. In its official statement, Citizen cited the growing threat of the coronavirus epidemic as the reason for the abrupt decision.
In November of last year, Citizen Group had delivered a statement reconfirming its commitment to Baselworld for 2020 amid news of scheduling-related withdrawals by several other major brand groups. With this latest announcement, none of the Japanese Big Three brands (Citizen, Seiko, and Casio) are currently scheduled to display at the event.
Interestingly, aBlogtoWatch has spoken with representatives from fellow Citizen Group brands Frederique Constant and Alpina, who have stated that as of press time both brands are still slated to attend the 2020 show. aBlogtoWatch will continue monitoring these brands and report any further changes as ..

Bulova Revisits A WWII Classic With The New A-15 Pilot Watch

It almost feels redundant to use the words “vintage reissue” today. Brands over the last few years have spent a lot of time digging into their past archive, dusting off old models, and breathing some new life into them. Bulova is (recently) no exception with its new Military Collection. Key in that collection is the new A15 Pilot Watch reissue. Referencing the 1944 Military Issued A-15 “Elapsed Time Watch,” there’s a lot to like with this Bulova. Retaining the original inner rotating disks, which are manipulated but the dual crowns, we get a lot of functionality here. The outer most dial serves as an elapsed time counter, much like a dive bezel, while the inner-most bezel gives you a 12hr scale.
Bulova has opted for a Miyota 82S6 automatic caliber and paired with the watch with a brown stitched leather strap. The watch clocks in at a pretty svelte 42mm and boasts a sapphire crystal, and a somewhat diminutive 30m water resistance (but it’s a pilot watch after all).

Bulova Expands Automatic Offerings With New Models In Regatta, Wilton, And Maquina Lines

For decades, Bulova has earned a coveted place in the watch industry as an innovator in movement technology from its development of the revolutionary Accutron tuning fork movement in 1960 to the incredible accuracy of the Precisionist line. Through it all, however, the brand has maintained a dedication to the art of the classical automatic watch. Recently, Bulova has renewed its commitment to automatic timepieces with a collection of eight new models in three model lines proudly featuring these movements. These three lines, the Regatta Automatic Slim, the Wilton Automatic Power Reserve, and the Maquina, run the gamut from revivals of classic Bulova designs to truly avant-garde styles.

The first of these, the Regatta Automatic Slim, breathes new life into a legendary Bulova collection dating back to 1953. The distinctive midcentury case design, with its unmistakable attached lugs and circular center profile, is reinterpreted in a modern 40 millimeter size while remaining elegantly sli..
