Citizen Plans Future With More Mechanical Watches Like The Calibre 0200

The two most important things Citizen shared with aBlogtoWatch during our recent call with its headquarters in Japan is that we will see a larger volume of high-quality mechanical movement production in the near future and that the Swiss-style watch movement beautification techniques it adapted from in-group watchmaker La Joux-Perret are entirely accomplished in Japan. Citizen is no stranger to mechanical movements — as indicated in this recent Citizen post on aBlogtoWatch here — but it has been over a decade since Citizen has introduced a new mechanical watch movement. This is despite the fact that Japan’s Miyota (a large volume manufacturer of mechanical and other watch movements) is part of the Citizen Group. Rather, most of the recent Citizen watches until now have featured the brand’s high-tech movement technology focused around Eco-Drive and that has made a lot of innovations in the world of GPS, connectivity, and miniaturization over the last several years.

Hands-On Debut: Zenith Chronomaster Sport With New El Primero 3600 Calibre Measuring 1/10th Second

Just released by Zenith is the brand new Chronomaster Sport, launching as a duo of ceramic bezel chronographs that feature the newly updated El Primero 3600 calibre. What we have with the Zenith Chronomaster Sport is a luxury chronograph with an attractive mainstream design but a movement that will impress even the most jaded or seasoned watch enthusiast. Equipped with a modern version of its “Striking 10th” movement, which allows the user to measure time down to 1/10th of a second, the Chronomaster Sport leans into what makes the high-beat El Primero so special.
As of late, the Zenith El Primero has been lacking options that land somewhere between the vintage-inspired Chronomaster Revival pieces and the highly contemporary, stylized Defy El Primero collection. Bearing a likeness to a distant cousin in the Rolex Daytona, these two debut Chronomaster Sport pieces are all Zenith once you take a closer look and appreciate the watchmaking prowess behind it. Though it draws inspiration fr..

TAG Heuer Adds New Blue Dial To Aquaracer Calibre 7 GMT Lineup

If you dive, there’s a pretty good chance that you don’t do it in your own backyard — or even in your own local time zone, for that matter. So, it goes without saying that the added functionality of an extra time zone on a dive watch makes a whole hell of a lot of sense — it’s just a shame that there really aren’t that many of them out there. TAG Heuer seems to be doing its best to add to the mix with a new blue-dialed Aquaracer GMT (ref. WAY201T) equipped with a bi-colored aluminum 24-hour bezel.
The Aquaracer Calibre 7 GMT ref. WAY201T The Aquaracer Calibre 7 GMT ref. WAY201F
Unlike the Rolex GMT Master II, which unofficially coined this bi-color blue and black “Batman” color scheme, the Aquaracer is positioned as a true dive watch, offering three times the water resistance at 300 meters. It also differs from the GMT Master from a functional standpoint, as its Calibre 7 engine uses the tradit..

Working with Sellita, Raymond Weil created the exclusive Calibre RW1212 to power the automatic, smart-casual timepiece.
When people ask about my hobbies, and I tell them I write for an online magazine about watches, I get a few standard follow-up questions:
Is that a thing?Do people still wear watches? Are there enough watches to warrant an online magazine? These questions I tend to bat off without going into too much detail as I can predict the intended audience would lose interest.
But there are a few questions that perk me up:
My family member gave me a service watch. Would you know anything about it?Could you recommend a ..

TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 41mm Blue Watch Review

Go shopping for a TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph watch and you’ll find a heaping load of options available to select from — though judging by TAG Heuer’s own website, it is slimming down the selection quite a bit. Today, I review what is an entry-level Carrera Chronograph that TAG Heuer calls the Carrera Calibre 16. I take a look at it in its reference CBM2112.BA0651 form with a modern blue dial and matching blue ceramic bezel. The same watch is also available in black tones as the reference CBM2110.BA0651.
frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture” allowfullscreen> This particular Carrera Calibre 16 is the sister model of the similar TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 CV201AR.BA0715 which costs $50 more (though I am not sure why). Both have the same 41mm-wide steel case, the same Calibre 16 automatic chronograph movement, the same ceramic bezel, and the same bracelet. What makes them different is that the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 CV20..

Omega Releases First New Calibre 321 Speedmaster Model In Steel Referencing The Legendary “Ed White”

Among the Omega faithful, few Speedmaster models carry the cache of the legendary “Ed White.” The original model, predating the signature Omega twisted lug design, became immortal on the wrist of the astronaut of the same name during America’s first spacewalk in 1965. As its first release of 2020, the brand has reintroduced the “Ed White” as part of its regular lineup with the new Speedmaster Moonwatch Chronograph 39.7 MM reference 311.30.40.30.01.001, powered by the same Calibre 321 movement as its 1965 predecessor.

While the Calibre 321 was reintroduced to production after decades of hiatus in January 2019, this new model is the first steel Speedmaster to be powered by the movement in over 50 years. The new Calibre 321 “Ed White” is an incredibly faithful reproduction of the classic model, updated with modern Omega quality. The case is substantially smaller than the traditional Speedmaster Professional, measuring in at 39.7 millimeters thanks to the simpler straight lug design. Oth..
