Cartier Debuts Limited Edition Rotonde De Cartier Precious Icons Set Watches

While Cartier has rightly earned its place as an icon in watchmaking, its contributions to haute horlogerie are often far less discussed than designs like the Tank or Santos. While they may fly relatively under the radar, these offerings rarely lack for spectacle, and the brand’s first haute horlogerie collection of 2021 is no exception. This exclusive box set trio of designs all aim to push the aesthetic limits of skeletonization, inspired by both the brand’s own design traditions and the dramatic look of floating mystery dials. The new limited edition Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Precious Icons Set includes the Rotonde de Cartier Astromystérieux, Rotonde de Cartier Astrotourbillon, and the Rotonde de Cartier Skeleton Mysterious Double Tourbillon, all three of which push the intricate and complex tourbillon escapement to new visual frontiers.
The flagship model in this new set is undoubtedly the Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Skeleton Mysterious Double Tourbillon. The Mysterious Skeleton D..

Hands-On: Cartier Prive Tonneau Skeleton XL Dual Time Watch

One of the reasons I admire Cartier timepieces so much is that the company was integral in the creation of the wristwatch industry, to begin with. It was actually around 1904 that Cartier started making men’s wristwatches (probably the first company to commercialize them) with the Santos, as a pilot’s watch. For the next two decades, or so, Cartier experimented with a lot of different timepiece case and dial designs, many of which the brand continues to produce today. That is the case with the tonneau-shaped watch that Cartier first introduced in 1906. Today, we look at the Cartier Prive Tonneau Skeleton XL Dual Time reference WHTN0006 in platinum, which very much combines the Cartier of yesterday and today.
While much less common today, dual time watches that have two twelve-hour dials on the main watch face are an invention from long ago. For a long time, people who needed to know the local time and some other time used dual-time display watches like this. GMT watches that offer one..

Cartier Brings Together A Unique Community Of Celebrities For Launch Of The Pasha

Ever since its creation in 1985 has the Pasha de Cartier been the watch of people who enjoy style with a unique twist. While in essence, it is just a round watch, it was famed watch designer Gerald Genta who made it more, by adding the typical Vendome-lugs and canteen crown. It made the Pasha de Cartier the watch to have in the 1980s, a success which Cartier perpetuated well into the new millennium. What made the Pasha even more special is that it is a watch that was embraced by a very diverse and international clientele. For the launch of the new generation of the Pasha, Cartier is joined by a very talented group of artists who have each made their mark in different ways. Rami Malek, Troye Sivan, Willow Smith, Maisie Williams, and Jackson Wang are all at the top of their field, where they stand out by their professionalism but also by not conform or restrain their creativity by traditional standards, very much like the Pasha. Cartier Revives The Pasha

2020 marks the return of the Pasha de Cartier, which also happens to celebrate its 35th birthday. The watch was initially launched in 1985 and one of the great successes of the brand. It was created by Gerald Genta, who cleverly combined the Vendome-lugs, designed and patented by Louis Cartier in 1934, with a round case and a prominent canteen-crown. It resulted in a very expressive watch that today hasn't lost any of its appeal. READ MORE

Cartier Is Bringing Sexy Back With The Maillon De Cartier

HomeKarina's KornerCartier Is Bringing Sexy Back With The Maillon De Cartier Karina's KornerCartierCartier Is Bringing Sexy Back With The Maillon De Cartier Meet the Cartier’s new ultra-feminine line by Karina Kwiatkowska April 28, 2020 MIN READCartier Is Bringing Sexy Back With The Maillon De CartierCartier loves to create bold luxury jewelry watches. Especially given the fact that a large portion of Cartier’s legacy comprises magnificent jewels designed for royal families and the sweethearts of Hollywood’s Golden Age. The Maillon de Cartier aims to capture the same glamor in one spectacular, jewel-set object.
Cartier has gone ultra-feminine. The desire to create an exceptional timepiece for women has led the French brand to accent the watch bracelet. As such, the Maillon de Cartier line is a sumptuous expression of sexiness.
The chain-link bracelet is simply gorgeous. It overawes all other elements of this design and takes center stage as Cartier surely intended. The hexago..

Hands-On With The New Cartier Pasha 35mm and 41mm

HomeHands-OnHands-On With The New Cartier Pasha 35mm and 41mm Hands-OnCartierHands-On With The New Cartier Pasha 35mm and 41mm Cartier updates the 35-year old Pasha by Robert-Jan Broer April 24, 2020 MIN READHands-On With The New Cartier Pasha 35mm and 41mmThe Cartier Pasha celebrates its 35th birthday this year. With the help of designer Gérald Genta, the “Pasha de Cartier” (as the French say) was meant to be a sporty/sportier watch than they had in their collection at that time.
Sportswatch is not the word that comes to mind when I look at the Cartier Pasha. Having said that, compared to the watches in the collection back in the day, it really fit. According to Cartier expert George Cramer’s book, Cartier – The gentleman’s files, the Pasha was meant to be a masculine, sportive, and waterproof watch, but with the stylish elements that are so typically Cartier.

The original Pasha was introduced in a 38mm diameter. That certainly wasn’t a small size back in 1985. When compared to the S..

This week, one of the classiest classics is up for discussion. We give you, the Cartier Santos De Cartier Large.

Cartier Santos Dumont XL In Three Manual Winding Versions

HomeWatch ReleasesCartier Santos Dumont XL In Three Manual Winding Versions Watch ReleasesCartierCartier Santos Dumont XL In Three Manual Winding Versions The news we'd been expecting broke early, so here's our take on the latest Santos Dumont by Rob Nudds April 03, 2020 MIN READCartier Santos Dumont XL In Three Manual Winding VersionsCartier is well-known for its stylish, slimline dress watches. Among the many elegant forms, the Santos collection often stands-out as an edgier take on the classic form. Now, in an attempt to further modernize a model that was birthed more than a century ago, the Cartier Santos Dumont XL hits the shelves.
Living up to 116 years of heritage is no mean feat. In 1904, Louis Cartier created the very first Santos model for his friend and aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. This “large” square model has seen quite a few overhauls in its time and the latest focuses on increasing the diameter while keeping the model as thin as can be. The original style is ..

Cartier Santos-Dumont XL Hand-Wind Watches For 2020 Now Also In Steel

Few modern watchmakers measure up to Cartier when it comes to century-old, yet evergreen, designs. We feel like we could write a book on Cartier watch design evolution — but we’ll spare you that and instead will shift focus right away to the new-for-2020 Cartier Santos-Dumont XL Hand-Wind watch collection, a range of three new watches, all with a Piaget-derived hand-wound movement, lowered prices, and now a steel variant.

The Cartier Santos has played a major role in carving the path not only for pilot’s watches, but also for men’s watches, in general. In its more than a century-long history, the Santos has been many things to many people — but perhaps most of us will remember it as the chunky (almost too chunky) Santos XL that was a star of the late 2000s and early 2010s, followed by the still rather bulky Santos 100 (reviewed here).
Left to right: A 1916 Cartier Santos “WCL88A16” and a 1912 Santos, “one of the very first Santos created by Cartier” according to t..

The Cartier Santos Galbée changed my mind about bimetallic watches. Just a bit, but every bit counts.
Every time I’ve seen steel and gold mixed together on a watch face or a bracelet, I give it a wide berth. Maybe it’s just my childhood memories of walking through cheap markets full of rubbish goods (calling them gadgets would be an overstatement) from Russia or China. As much as I love debating with people and encouraging them to try new things on their wrists, I remain chained to my radical views on bimetallic watches.
Gold and steel togetherWhen I see cold steel and warm gold together, I have to cover my eyes to un-see an outfit ready for a local ’90s disco. I wasn’t around in ’78 when Cartier resurrected th..
