Girard-Perregaux Announces Official Partnership With Aston Martin

Few automotive brands can muster the kind of immediate emotional reaction that Aston Martin does. Just those two simple words conjure up images of the elegant winged logo, stunning design, refined British performance, victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and of course, the world’s most famous superspy. The Aston Martin name carries a certain amount of cultural gravitas, and any sort of official partnership with the automaker is highly sought after. Girard-Perregaux is taking the reins as the new official watchmaker for Aston Martin, officially announcing a wide-ranging partnership that will include several limited-edition models for 2021.
While release dates and details for Girard-Perregaux’s Aston Martin limited editions have not yet been released, the brand has announced a robust co-branding package that will include sponsor space with the new Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One team. Girard-Perregaux is set to debut on both the cars and the wrists of team drivers Lance Stroll and f..

Girard-Perregaux Announces Limited Edition Laureato Absolute Wired Watch

2021 marks the 230th anniversary of Girard-Perregaux, and while the brand has an extensive history its focus is firmly on the future of the watch industry. To this end, the historic marque has launched its first ever e-commerce platform, and to celebrate this debut the brand has created a special limited edition variant of the modernist Laureato Absolute sports watch. The new limited edition Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Wired takes a futuristic, exotic material approach to one of the brand’s hallmark designs, providing a stunning kickoff to its new online sales platform.
The aggressive lines of the integrated 44mm case follow the classic Laureato formula, but the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Wired interprets this shape in unique carbon glass. Formed by joining alternating layers of carbon fiber and fiberglass together under immense heat and pressure, the resulting material is lightweight, extremely strong, and takes on a unique striated appearance. The main body of the cas..

Girard-Perregaux Debuts Limited-Edition Quasar Light Tourbillon Watch With A Case Made From A Single Sapphire Disk

Sapphire-cased timepieces have become a new material frontier in high-end watchmaking over the past several years, acting as a 360 degree showcase for highly decorated or complex movements. The latest brand to throw its hat in the ring in this ongoing material arms race is Girard-Perregaux, which has taken the use of sapphire a step beyond the norm with its new limited-edition Quasar Light. The Quasar Light features some truly impressive accoutrements, including a full sapphire case made from a single disk of sapphire material, a movement that seems to float inside the case thanks to distinctive sapphire bridges, and a tourbillon at 6 o’clock.

It’s the brilliance of the 46mm all-sapphire case that gives the Girard-Perregaux Quasar Light its unorthodox name, referencing the brightest celestial objects in the known universe. The name is not without merit, as the 200 hour manufacturing process needed to create and finish the main case body from a single piece of sapphire involves three ..

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Light Sapphire Crystal Watch

Building on the Laureato Absolute watch collection that it debuted last year at SIHH 2019, Swiss Girard-Perregaux has just released a lovely high-end limited-edition watch that helps promote this new family of timepieces. This is the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Light, and it is limited to 88 pieces with a price of over $80,000. It also happens to be very desirable as a modern yet traditional luxury watch that focuses on visual mastery and functional practicality. I think Girard-Perregaux got it right in a lot ways here.
The Laureato Absolute is an aesthetic variation of the larger Laureato family. The case is different but retains the octagonal case that is a key feature of the Laureato (which, itself, was originally released around the same time as the Royal Oak in the 1970s). The Laureato Absolute Light Girard-Perregaux went with a case structure that combines carefully machined transparent sapphire crystal as well as grade 5 titanium. The case is 44mm-wide and 11.56mm-thick ..
