Zenith Unveils Limited-Edition Pilot Type 20 Chronograph Silver Watch

Despite its value, luster, and cultural significance dating back millennia, silver is a rarely seen material in modern luxury watchmaking. Zenith looks to change that with its newest entry in the distinctive Pilot Type 20 series, combining the shine and somewhat antique feel of the metal with its early 20th-century pilot watch design, and the brand’s signature El Primero chronograph movement. The resulting limited-edition Zenith Pilot Type 20 Chronograph Silver is one of the most striking and unique entries in the brand’s long-running pilot watch line.
The broad 45mm case of the Zenith Pilot Type 20 Chronograph Silver is shared with the rest of the Pilot Type 20 line, with a narrow smooth bezel, sharply downturned attached lugs, and a massive 3 o’clock onion crown that offer the impression of a converted pocket watch for the wrist. The largest departure from previous models, of course, is the choice of material: 925 sterling silver. In images, this metal looks to add a new, richer she..

The Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy is the Feel-Good Watch We Needed in 2020

A watch should make you smile. It should put a little spring in your step. And for the lucky few, it might just do both as you find yourself glancing down at it throughout the day. But it’s a rare instance, indeed, when a watch mixes a sober horological legacy with state-of-the-art mechanical innovation — all with the expressed purpose of manufacturing joy. The Omega Speedmaster 50th Anniversary Silver Snoopy edition is the third in a whimsical trio of limited-edition Speedmasters that have each paid homage to a quirky NASA award (which was given to the Speedmaster after the watch was credited with helping save the astronauts of the doomed Apollo 13 mission back in 1970), each time yielding highly collectible, but markedly different, outcome.
Unlike the first two editions, which paid tribute to the Snoopy award in the ways and means many special or limited-edition Swiss watches tend to pay tribute to something, this iteration eschews the traditional staid embellishments and goes in th..

TAG Heuer Carrera Silver Limited Edition Celebrates 160 Years Of The Iconic Timepiece

TAG Heuer is celebrating its 160 years of fine watchmaking history with the release of the new TAG Heuer Carrera Silver Limited Edition.
The limited edition only has 1,860 pieces, as a nod to the very year the company was founded by Edouard Heuer in Saint-Imier, Switzerland.
The new design revives the 1960s Tag Heuer Carrera line, featuring “One of 1860″ and “LIMITED EDITION” engraved on the case-back of every watch in the collection, and powered by 21st-century innovation in watchmaking.

In 1962, then-CEO Jack Heuer heard of the South American race, the Carrera Panamericana, and knew “Carrera” (Spanish for “road”, “race”, “career” and “course”) was the perfect name for a new timepiece, which was debuted in 1964. The Heuer Carrera is a perpetual presence on the wrist of drivers around the world. The silver-dial model (known by horologists as the “2447S”) is being re-introduced in the new edition with new updates.

The new Carrera Silver Limited Edtion has its predecessor’s dial an..

HomeHot TakeHot Take: TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition Hot TakeTAG HeuerHot Take: TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition The start of a year filled with celebrations by Robert-Jan BroerJanuary 16, 2020 MIN READHot Take: TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition2020 has only just begun and we’re being flooded with new releases. Although absent at the LVMH Watch Week in Dubai, TAG Heuer did introduce a new watch yesterday: The TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Editions
When you’ve been around for 160 years, you can be forgiven for running out of model names. But it has to be said that TAG Heuer could have given its new Carrera any name under the sun and it would still be a handsome addition to the catalog. The new TAG Heuer Carrera (reference number CBK221B.FC6479) is a welcome return to the clean lines of the past. It is heavily inspired by the 1960s Heuer Carrera with reference 2447S that we covered in this article on Fratello.

Hands-On Debut: TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition Watch

Although it’s been through multiple iterations, owners, and branding changes, TAG Heuer is one of the oldest major brands in the watch industry, with a history of continuous production dating back to before the American Civil War. As the first salvo in a year of planned celebrations for the brand’s 160th anniversary in 2020, TAG Heuer has recreated one of the most famous references of its flagship Carrera chronograph line: the 1960s Carrera 2447S. This new version, the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition, is an impressively faithful recreation of the Heuer original, finished to modern standards and powered by TAG Heuer’s in-house Heuer 02 automatic chronograph movement.

While slightly upsized from the 36mm original, this new interpretation of the 2447S remains compact at a 39mm overall case diameter. While some purists may disagree, the increase in size may even propel it above the original, allowing the watch some noticeable wrist presence without leaving a vintage-st..
