Casio Debuts G-Shock G-Steel GSTB100GC-1A Watch

One of the greatest strengths of the Casio G-Shock line is its sheer breadth. The Japanese giant offers a G-Shock for nearly every taste and budget, ranging from sub-$100 digital throwbacks to ornately hand-carved masterworks reaching well into the mid four figure range. The Casio G-Shock G-Steel line sits firmly in the middle of this range, bringing a more premium feel and advanced features to a more affordable price bracket. While the G-Steel line has not been at the center of attention in recent years, Casio’s latest release revitalizes the nameplate with a refined new colorway. With the brand’s current movement technology and a handsome black and gold color palette, the new Casio G-Shock G-Steel GSTB100GC-1A offers a bold new face for the brand’s midrange collection.
Casio fits the G-Shock G-Steel GSTB100GC-1A with an oversized, aggressive 53.8mm stainless steel case with black ion plating. Like many modern G-Shock designs, the integrated form here is sharply angular and multi-fac..

Casio Unveils G-Shock GMWB5000RD-4 In Red Stainless Steel

One of the greatest strengths of Casio’s seminal G-Shock series is its immense variety. There is a G-Shock to serve very nearly every taste, and for those looking for a more premium experience than its traditional resin offerings, Casio produces a bevy of designs in stainless steel. While this Full Metal series is comparatively more refined, Casio still allows these models to have fun, as evidenced by its latest release. The new Casio G-Shock GMWB5000RD-4 splashes the traditional G-Shock form in a deep ruby red, adding a striking new dimension to the rugged design.
The most striking element of the Casio G-Shock GMWB5000RD-4 is undoubtedly the 43.2mm stainless steel case, finished with a mix of brushed and polished surfaces accented by a red IP coating. The rugged industrial-inspired form of the original G-Shock DW-5000C takes on a new dimension with this finishing, particularly with the bright polished chamfer surrounding the octagonal bezel. The red tone itself is surprisingly dark a..

Hands-On: BVLGARI Octo Finissimo Automatic Steel Watch

BVLGARI’s Octo Finissimo collection size is growing just as rapidly as its popularity among enthusiasts. To think that a decade ago, the Gerald Genta Octo family was just seen as another of Genta’s weirder modern watches out there. Then BVLGARI (who acquired the Gerald Genta brand a while back), set out to make the Octo sexier and more mainstream — which led the brand down a path of products that eventually led to this ultra-thin Octo watch with an incredibly cool automatic movement. This reference 103431 Octo Finissimo watch was debuted in early 2020 and sports a steel case with matching bracelet, and a chic metallic-blue dial.
aBlogtoWatch introduced the BVLGARI Octo Finissimo steel watch here, and later did a hands-on first look at the reference 103297, which is this same watch but with a black dial. The Octo Finissimo Automatic started as a limited edition in 2019 but in a sandblasted titanium case, which most Octo Finissimo watches have been rendered as to this point. While titan..

Patek Philippe Makes Steel The New Deal For Calatrava

Most people will immediately think of the exquisite dress watches made by Patek Philippe in precious metals when you mention the Calatrava. Already decades ago has this collection become a benchmark for the industry. While Patek Philippe made quite a name for itself with first the stainless steel Nautilus, and later on the Aquanaut, was this material only used sporadically to case Calatrava's. Recently there seems to have been a change in direction, as last year we where already been treated to the exquisite Calatrava Weekly Calendar Ref.5212A, sporting a stainless steel case, and now Patek Philippe is treating us on the Ref.6007A-001 Limited Edition, also in this material. We are used to seeing minor updates to a collection that often feels more entrenched than established. But that is fair enough. When you can arguably claim to be the G.O.A.T. why mess with a winning formula? However, with the release of the Patek Philippe Ref. 6007A-001 Calatrava watch in steel, the Genevan manufacture has shown it’s aware of how much times are changing.
For the past five years, Patek Philippe has been working on a new manufacture in Geneva. The Plan-les-Ouates site was signed off in 2014 to aid Patek Philippe‘s desire to internalize as many aspects of productio..

The Octo Finissimo collection receives a blue dial version as well, in satin-polished stainless steel.
I recently shared my experience of wearing the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo in satin-polished steel (here). As I commented, I believe it is one of the coolest luxury sports watches available at this moment. For me, the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo in steel is the one to buy and I even prefer it over some other hyped Gérald Genta designs out there. And that comes from deep down inside my soul, as I am a big fan of the Royal Oak and Nautilus.
But which one to buy? The choice just got a lot harder. Enter the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo in satin-polished steel with a blue dial. I am a sucker f..

What Makes The Bvlgari Octo Finissimo In Steel So Great

HomeWatch ReviewWhat Makes The Bvlgari Octo Finissimo In Steel So Great Watch ReviewBvlgariWhat Makes The Bvlgari Octo Finissimo In Steel So Great And why I prefer it over a Royal Oak 15202 by Robert-Jan Broer May 11, 2020 MIN READWhat Makes The Bvlgari Octo Finissimo In Steel So GreatThe Bvlgari Octo Finissimo in steel is the talk of the town since its introduction earlier this year in Dubai. During these events, you only get a few moments with the watch, to take some pictures and do a quick try & feel with the watches.
It is certainly not enough time to really let the watch really work into you. It could be me of course, but often I need some time to have it all processed. Especially when it concerns an unusual design as the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo (yes, Bvlgari and not Bulgari). To me, it wasn’t love at first sight, that I will have to admit. I like the fact that the watch has its own identity, that you can basically recognize an Octo (Finissimo) from 20 meters distance for being one..

The technical achievement of the skeletonized dial can now be appreciated in a daily durable material.
The human brain finds beauty in symmetryIt is posited that how attractive humans find each other has at least something to do with facial symmetry. As “scientifically” grounded as that theory may be, I think most of us would agree that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But if you were to put together a grid of the most universally beautiful people on earth, the characteristic trait would be the symmetry of the left side to the right side of their face. The same can be said for watch dials too. Symmetrical dials are easy to achieve..
